Iraq-UN, Politics, 3/9/2000
The United Nations Security Council on Tuesday received a proposal from the UN Secretariat on the composition of a "college of commissioners" for the United Nations Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIK) to consult with the council and UNMOVIK's head, and a response is due by the end of today, Marie Okabe, associate spokesman for the UN secretary-general, said yesterday.
Meanwhile, Iraqi oil exports under the seventh phase of the oil-for-food program have reached 145.1 million barrels, valued at approximately $3.6 billion, Okabe said.
