New Syrian government formation will not affect Syrian-Israeli peace talks

Syrian political sources said on Wednesday that the formation of a new Syrian government chaired by Muhammad Mustafa Miro in succession of the government of outgoing Prime Minister Mahmoud al-Zou'bi will not have any affect on the Syrian- Israeli peace talks.

The Syrian political sources added that Miro, who was assigned by President al-Assad to form the new government, will concentrate his government's efforts and activities basically on economic and administrative reform operations.

The sources expected that the ministers of defense, foreign affairs and the interior who had been for long years in their posts will keep their posts in the new government which is expected to be declared within the next two days.

The Syrian political sources also expected the new government to concentrate on the way to meeting the repeated demands of the private sector, especially matters pertaining to amending law no 24 provides for banning dealing with foreign currency, a law which imposes tough sanctions on its violators that may reach 20 years of imprisonment with hard labor.

The new government will also concentrate on making banking system reforms owned and run by the government and to work for establishing a bank note market.

However, the government of Mahmoud al-Zou'bi was accused of failure in exporting the stockpiled Syrian products in the government's warehouses, estimated at millions of US dollars.
