British government prevents air flight to Iraq
Iraq-UK, Politics, 3/9/2000
The British government has prevented on March 6 an air flight intended to head to Baghdad, carrying medicines to help the Iraqi people in their suffering, against the UN sanctions.
A spokesman for the British Foreign Ministry said that member of the Labor Party at the British House of Common George Galloway, who is a strong supporter of Arab causes, organized this trip between London and Baghdad in defiance of the air embargo imposed on Iraq since 1990.
The spokesman added that the British Foreign Ministry intervened and canceled the flight, which was due on Saturday.
