US sanction on Iran, Sudan unilateral action, Malaysia says
Sudan-Iran-Malaysia, Politics, 3/8/2000
The United States' move to prohibit all foreign oil companies from investing in Iran and Sudan was a unilateral decision which did not have the blessing of the United Nations, Malaysian minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Bernard Dompok, said.
The Malaysian news agency, BERNAMA, quoted the official as saying before the Malaysian lower house of parliament, his country's oil company, Petronas, would continue to operate and seek business and investment opportunities in the two countries.
"Petronas will not pay heed to the sanctions imposed by the United States," he said.
