On the Iraqi Baath Party
Jordan, Politics, 3/8/2000

The Jordanian weekly al-Majd said in its recent issue that tens of members of the pro-Iraq Jordanian Baath Party decided to freeze their membership in this party and placed the responsibility for this decision on the party's higher leadership.

The said Baathists also decided in a meeting they held on Monday evening and following lengthy debates in the office of Jordanian Parliamentarian Khalil Hadadin in Amman to release a press statement in which they explained the reasons for their withdrawal from their party.

They also set up a committee to contact several cadres of this party in all parts of Jordan in order collect signatures agreeing to this statement in preparation for convening a general conference to modify the conditions of this party.

Al-Majd issued the full text of the statement released by the participants in this meeting.
