On Iran's attending the meeting of the Arab FM council
Regional-Iran, Politics, 3/8/2000
Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid has stated that Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi will attend the meeting of the Arab foreign ministers in Beirut as an observer in his capacity as a representative of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, over which his country is currently presiding.
In a statement he made on Monday evening to Abu Dhabi television Abdul Meguid said that Kharazi will attend the meeting according to an agreement signed between the Arab League and the Organization of the Islamic Conference over attending the meeting as an observer, which means that Kharazi will only attend the opening session.
He explained that Kharazi's participation comes as a representative of the OIC not as a representative of Iran.
The Arab foreign ministers will hold a meeting on March 11 that will last for two days to discuss the recent Israeli aggressions against Lebanon.
