Mofaz and Israel's withdrawal from south Lebanon
Lebanon-Israel, Politics, 3/8/2000
The Israeli Army's chief of staff, Shaul Mofaz, said that no change was made to the evaluation made by the Israeli Army in that the Hizbullah Party will continue attacks on the Israeli Army when withdrawal is made from south Lebanon without reaching an agreement.
Mofaz added in a report he submitted to the foreign affairs and security committee at the Israeli Knesset that it is not ruled out that cities and villages of northern Israel will be vulnerable to attacks because they are situated close to Israeli Army positions.
Mofaz, on the other hand, gave instructions to take care of the pro-Israeli South Lebanon Army militia's affairs in south Lebanon. He added in this regard that he will not wait until the government takes practical decisions on this issue because the Hizbullah is carrying out intensive efforts to strike these militias in order to stabilize south Lebanon.
