Israel refuses appeals by SLA officers for political asylum
Lebanon-Israel, Politics, 3/7/2000
Israeli Radio said on Monday that the supreme court of justice had refused an appeal submitted by three members of the South Lebanon Army (SLA) militia, in which they asked for political asylum in Israel or to be given Israeli citizenship.
The court justified the rejection of the appeal in that it refuses to interfere in the question pertaining to the fate of the SLA after the withdrawal of the Israeli Army from south Lebanon.
The court added that it is enough to limit to the commitment made by the government to ensuring the safety of the SLA.
