Messengers of God find refuge in Egypt
Egypt, Religion, 3/6/2000
Early, last month, a conference on "Media role in the dialogue of religions" was held under the sponsorship of the Centre of Islamic and Middle Eastern Law, based at the School of Oriental Studies of the University of London.
The "Maimounia Institution" in London and "Kowandet Institution" in Germany participated in this conference.
The main topic of the conference was a question; is Egypt adopting an approach of dialogue or conflict? The answer was that "Egypt is the heart of the world and the cradle of all religions."
It is well known that God's Messenger Abraham (peace be upon him) had come to Egypt with his wife Sara.
God's Messenger, Joseph (peace be upon him) had come to Egypt and to be appointed as minister of finance by Egypt's Pharaoh (Ruler) and later joined by his brothers Jacob's sons.
God's Messenger, Moses, according to Sigmund Freud was Egyptian and had an Egyptian name.
The Holy family, Jesus and his mother Mary, had come To Egypt, fleeing from the infanticide fury of King Herod. The Holy Family, understandably - had to avoid the beaten tracks altogether, and pursue unknown paths guided by God and His Angel.
Later, after the advent of Islam, Egypt became the center of Islam. The nascent but strong Islamic State was able to destroy the Persian Empire and deliver Egypt from the throes of Roman oppression when Amr Ibn Al-Aas conquered the country in 640 AD.
Egypt knows love among religions as the Egyptian people constitutes one texture and whoever wants to realize the meaning of the national unity, has to come to this blessed land: Egypt.
On the contrary, from time to time we are undergoing foreign storms, by western media, aiming at shaking the security and stability of our beloved homeland, Egypt.
It should be clear to the whole world that all the rights are guaranteed for all citizens by the Egyptian constitution.
Never has any one felt any discrimination in rights between a Muslim and a non-Muslim. On the other hand, there come the role of a different category of agitators who are wont to fan the embers of sectarian sedition.
It should be reaffirmed that tolerance has been always, throughout past and contemporary history, the predominant trait of Egyptians, Copts and Muslims, which is quite clear for those who can see, discern and think.
Western Media has intentionally forgotten that all citizens lived in the land of Egypt in love, tolerance, unity and real harmony; for, they are compatriots of the same homeland.
And, as it was truly said by one of the orientalists " in Egypt one can not differentiate between a Muslim and a Christian, only when the former goes to the mosque and the latter to the church".
These allegations are made in spite of the fact that millions of Muslims and Copts have been living together in a symbolic cordiality, throughout Egypt's long and eventful history in thousands of cities, towns and villages across the country.
Those who are trying to drive a wedge between Muslims and Christians are only seeking personal gains and should be aware that both the crescent and the cross embraced in such a way that will remain for ever a unique example of coexistence between all religions and creeds.
Herodotus, the first Greek historian had been affected by the Egyptian civilization. Many other early philosophers and scientists had studied in Alexandria, the lighthouse for the Greek and Roman civilizations.
