Algeria-France, Politics, 3/6/2000
Algerian-born French Jewish singer Enrico Macias stressed on Sunday "the postponement" of his musical tour to Algeria for several weeks or a month for "organizational" reasons due to security reasons. He said, "There is no retreat from my return to Algeria, especially to Qusantinah."
However, some 48 Imams at Qusintinah mosque called for boycotting this singer, whose his family is accused of taking stances against Algerian nationalism during the war of independence with France.
Meanwhile, Algerian dailies published on Sunday news on that five civilians and five Islamists were killed on last Friday and Thursday in aggressions carried out by the Armed Islamic Group and operations carried out by the security forces.
