Thousands of Egyptians demonstrate against Israel, Russia

Egyptian police sources announced that thousands of Egyptian students demonstrated on Saturday at Cairo University in protest against the Israeli raids against Lebanon and the Russian military operation against Chechnya.

Some 5,000 demonstrating students burnt US and Israeli flags and called for ending the Israeli occupation of south Lebanon.

The Egyptian police sources added that the students who gathered at the call from the Islamic opposition, tried to head to the premises of the nearby Israeli embassy but the police closed the university's doors and prevent that.

At Alexandria University some 3,000 students denounced the Israeli occupation of south Lebanon and called on the Arab states to react to the Israeli raids.
