Vedrine, al-Shara agree to eliminate developments resulted from Jospin's statement
Syria-France, Politics, 3/6/2000
Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara on Saturday received a telephone call from his French counterpart, Hubert Vedrine, during which talks dealt with reactions resulting from the visit of the French prime minister to the region and the impact of the statements on France's relations with the Arab world, especially Syria and Lebanon.
In this respect, the French foreign minister asserted his country's adherence to the principles on the ground of which Arab-French relations and the peace process were built.
Vedrine promised to inform Jospin of Syria's viewpoint concerning his recent statements and its reflections.
By the end of the telephone conversation al-Shara and Vedrine agreed on the importance of trying to reset matters onto the right track and to attempt to eliminate any negative consequences left by the recent crisis on Arab-French relations.
