Arab labor conference starts today in Sharm El-Sheikh

The 27th Arab labor conference is starting today in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt and will last for one week, in which delegations representing governments, labor syndicates and organizations of business owners in the Arab states are participating.

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak is sending an address to the conference to be delivered on his behalf by Egyptian Minister of Manpower and Immigration Ahmed El-Amawi that includes urging the Arab states to cooperate to revitalize economic cooperation in confronting the international and regional blocs which surround the area. Last year speaing to the conference, Mubarak said that the world now is undergoing dynamic changes in view of world economic blocs, lauding the decision adopted in 1999 by the conference to establish Arab free zone as a pivot for the aspired-for Arab common market.

The general manager of the Arab Labor Organization, Ibrahim Kowaider, stated that implementing the bilateral and the collective labor agreements signed among the Arab states will be discussed.
