Israel expects a nearby agreement with Syria, including Lebanon
Syria-Israel, Politics, 3/4/2000
The Israeli TV on Friday evening said that a peace agreement will be concluded between Israel and Syria including an agreement concerning Lebanon will be " completed and submitted to the government" within four or five months, but not to exceed the fall of the Jewish Easter.
Western diplomatic sources in Geneva joined the mediation line showing readiness to host a summit between Presidents Clinton and Hafez al-Assad, to be joined by the Israeli prime minister Ehud Barak.
However, a source in Washington told the London-based al-Hayat daily that the US President has continuously expressed readiness to patron a summit of this sort, but he refused to confirm nor to deny a tripartite summit as such.
