UNESCO to launch International Year for Culture of Peace

The United Nations General Assembly has declared the year 2000 as "the International year for the Culture of Peace."
UNESCO is spearheading an international effort to promote it at the individual, family, community, local, national and international levels.
UNESCO is supported by a worldwide network of UNESCO Associated Schools Project (ASPnet).
These schools will focus on values education through curricula and their activities inside and outside the school for students and teachers also center on the ideals of nonviolence and tolerance.
