Condolences for railway crash victims
Morocco, Local, 3/3/2000
Victims of the Car-El Kebir railway accident will get royal financial support, said Thursday minister in charge of relations with Parliament, Mohamed Bouzoubaa, standing in for the government spokesman.
After the government council meeting, Bouzoubaa recalled how the king had dispatched an official delegation to the crash site where 35 were killed to convey condolences and monitor rescue and transfer to medical centers.
Princess Lalla Meryem visited Thursday survivors receiving special care in different wards of the Rabat-Mohammed V military hospital.
King Mohammed VI received more condolences and sympathy messages from Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika and French president Jacques Chirac, sharing the Moroccan people's bereavement at the tragic loss of 35 lives, when a southbound train ran Wednesday morning into a tractor and trailer carrying farmhands in a railway crossing near Car El Kebir.
