Al-Shara stresses Syria's commitment to April Understanding, refuses amendments
Syria-Israel-International, Politics, 3/3/2000

Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara on Thursday received the chairman of the US side and the current president of the April Understanding Monitoring Committee, Richard Eardman, and the chairman of the French side in the committee, Laurant Raban, and members of their two accompanying delegations.

Present at the meeting were the chairman of the Syrian side at the committee, Maj. Gen. Adnan Balloul, the French ambassador in Damascus, Henry Dragon, and the US ambassador in Damascus, Ryan Crocker.

The participants in the meeting reviewed the current situation in Lebanon resulting from the Israeli aggressions against the Lebanese civil installations and Israel's continued violations of the April Understanding and its obstruction of its committee.

Al-Shara stressed Syria's commitment to the understanding and not having any amendments to its provisions as well as to revitalize the committee very soon.
