Custom gives seized products to canteens, boarding schools
Morocco, Education, 3/2/2000
The Moroccan Education Ministry and customs administration signed on Wednesday an agreement under which all products seized at Morocco's customs will be allocated to school canteens and dorms, mainly in rural areas.
The customs administration pledged to give all food products, school stationery, kitchen and household appliances and other goods to canteens and boarding schools.
The move is set to benefit some 1 million pupils in around 130 boarding schools and 11,342 canteens in primary and secondary education schools.
The head of the customs administration said this move, confirming the customs' involvement in social action, is a contribution to Morocco's efforts to increase schooling in rural areas.
