Mubarak gets message from King Mohammed
Egypt-Morocco, Politics, 3/2/2000

President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt received on Thursday a message from King Mohammed VI dealing with bilateral relations and issues of mutual concern. The message was conveyed by the Moroccan minister of foreign affairs and cooperation, Mohamed Benaissa.

Benaissa told reporters he reviewed with President Mubarak a number of issues related to the Maghreb and the Middle East, in addition to bilateral cooperation and the coming session of the Moroccan-Egyptian high joint commission.

Benaissa is visiting Cairo to take part in the Moroccan-Egyptian coordination and follow-up committee which holds its first meeting in Cairo Thursday to prepare for the 4th session of the high joint commission scheduled for next May in the Egyptian capital.

The commission's session will be co-chaired by King Mohammed VI and President Mubarak.

Set up in 1997, the Moroccan-Egyptian high joint commission convenes every year, alternately in Rabat and Cairo.

The third session of the joint commission was marked by the signing of several accords and protocols related to the sectors of fisheries, transport, agriculture, and social affairs. An accord setting up a free trade area between the two countries came into force in April 1999.
