Jordanian lawyers intend to head to Baghdad by air to break embargo on Iraq
Jordan-Iraq, Politics, 3/1/2000

Saleh El-Armouti, chief of the Jordanian lawyers, said yesterday that the council of the lawyers union intends to hire an airplane to head to Baghdad this month to break the sanctions imposed on Iraq.

El-Armouti added that members of the syndicate's council and former heads of its council will also escort him and that the council will also address the invitation to Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid, clarifying that the Jordanian lawyers' union will address at the same time messages to the lawyers' syndicates in the Arab states to take similar initiatives.

In another Jordanian move to express solidarity with Iraq, a Jordanian committee for defending Iraq announced the start of a national campaign to collect signatures on petitions to urge the Arab governments to lift up the embargo on Iraq.
