The Jordanian al-Majd paper said, according to well-informed diplomatic sources in Amman, that the Israeli embassy in Amman had tried repeatedly to contact by telephone the Yemeni ambassador in Amman, Hassan al-Louzi.
The sources said the Israeli charge d'affairs had informed the Yemeni ambassador in an indirect contact of the desire of Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak to meet with Yemeni Premier Abdul Karim al-Iryani in order to discuss the possibility of normalizing relations between the two sides.
