Two US diplomats in al-Khartoum
Sudan-USA, Politics, 3/1/2000

Two US diplomats arrived on Tuesday in Khartoum to prepare for the visit of the US special envoy to Sudan, Harry Johnston.

A source at the US embassy in Khartoum said that the charge d'affairs, Donald Titpon, and the administrative councilor who live in Nairobi will prepare for the visit scheduled to start on Saturday.

The source stated that the US envoy will discuss with Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir and Sudanese Foreign Minister Mustafa Othman Ismael issues connected to peace and humanitarian issues.

The Sudanese independent al-Rai al-Am daily on Tuesday quoted Sudanese Assistant Foreign Minister Gabriel Robik as saying that the Sudanese Foreign Ministry has completed preparations for Johnston's visit.
