On the Cabinet reshuffle in Syria
Syria, Politics, 3/1/2000
The Lebanese al-Mustaqbal paper said on Tuesday that the fate of the government of Syrian Prime Minister Mahmoud al-Zou'bi is still swinging between increasing rumors of its resignation and increasing rumors that this government will stay.
The paper quoted sources which it described as well-informed as saying that forming a new government has come as a result of the desire to link the cabinet reshuffle to other changes expected in high posts in the state, the Baath Party and the establishments.
The paper continued, according to the sources, that the March 8 (the anniversary of Syria's party revolution) is an expected date to declare these changes.
