Central Africa backs Morocco's sovereignty over Sahara
Morocco-Central African Republic, Politics, 2/29/2000
The Central African Republic said it backs Morocco's sovereignty over the Sahara.
Central Africa's minister in charge of relations with the Arab states, Mamadou Bello, has renewed his country's backing to Morocco's territorial integrity, the Moroccan foreign affairs department said in a release.
Bello conferred Tuesday with the Moroccan minister in charge of the Maghreb, Arab and Muslim world affairs, Abdeslam Znined.
Several African nations have withdrawn recognition of the self-declared republic.
The new evolution made African countries call Morocco to return to its seat in the Organization of African Unity. Morocco quit the body in the early 1980's to protest against the illegal admission of the Polisario entity.
