Report: Emir of Qatar to visit Syria

The Qatari daily al-Rayah said on Sunday that Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khaleifa al-Thani will visit Syria on March 21 and 21.
The paper quoted official sources which it described as very well-informed as saying that the emir will hold meetings with Syrian President Hafez al-Assad which will concentrate on means and mechanisms to give a push forward to Qatar-Syrian cooperation, especially on the economic and investment levels, and to attain further coordination on the bilateral levels.
The sources added the Qatari-Syrian summit will deal with all developments in the Arab arena and the possibility of convening an Arab summit that will be able to draw up a comprehensive Arab strategy to withstand the current status, in regard to the peace settlement in the Middle East or the Iraqi file with Iran in light of the results of the recent Iranian parliamentary elections.
