Indian Communist Party ready to reconsider Polisario recognition, Moroccan MP
Morocco-India, Politics, 2/26/2000

The Indian Communist Party is ready to reconsider its recognition of the Polisario, a Moroccan deputy said.

The Communist Party took the decision in light of the explanations it heard from the Moroccan delegation that accompanied Premier Abderrahmane Youssoufi during his three-day official visit to New Delhi, Abdelkebir Tabih told Map's bureau in Jeddah during the stopover of the Moroccan delegation in Saudi Arabia on its way back home from India.

The deputy said the Moroccan delegation realized that the Indian parties, including the Congress Party (opposition) the Bahartya Janata Party and the Communist Party were not adequately informed about the issue of the Moroccan Sahara.

He said the Moroccan delegation highlighted Morocco's efforts to retrieve and develop its southern provinces.

Youssoufi visited India this week at the invitation of his Indian peer, Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Several cooperation accords were concluded during the visit.
