Regional, Economics, 2/26/2000
Ibrahim Qauaider, general manager of the Arab Labor Organization, said on the occasion of convening the Arab labor conference on March 4 in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, that the visit by Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak to Lebanon as head of the largest Arab states and head of the last Arab summit gave a strong statement of support to the Lebanese people.
He said the Arab labor conference will discuss a program for employing Arab youths to limit unemployment, which exceeds 14% of labor force-- 98 million citizens-- clarifying that the program costs $1.8 million and will last for three years to provide work opportunities for more than 13 million unemployed Arabs.
