Mubarak congratulates Khatami on reform movement's election victory

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak expressed his confidence that the public support which Iranian President Mohammed Khatami attained will be his support in his efforts to achieve progress for the Iranian people.
Mubarak sent a cable to congratulate President Khatami in which he expressed his sincere wishes over Khatami's followers' victory in the recent Iranian legislative elections that were impartial and fair.
This step is considered a good sign in Iranian - Egyptian relations which were characterized by hostility and tension since Egypt's signing of the Camp David agreement with Israel, which assures that there is a trend for increasing the diplomatic representation between the two countries.
