Kuwait to invest $4 billion in Indonesia
Kuwait-Indonesia, Economics, 2/24/2000

Kuwait said it will soon invest some $4 billion in the oil industry in Selayar island, Indonesia, Indonesian news agency ANTARA reported on Wednesday.

The announcement was made by Kuwaiti ambassador to Indonesia Jamal Al-Nesafi after distributing gifts to around 3,000 orphans in Bogor, West Java.

"We will soon invest $4 billion in the oil sector in Indonesia," he said.

Kuwait has reportedly invested around $1.250 billion in Seram Island.

The diplomat further stated that his government is currently arranging a visit of Kuwaiti businessmen to Indonesia for exploring business possibilities.

He said Kuwait is still in a dire need of furniture and skilled workers from Indonesia and needs around 4,000 male and female nurses from Indonesia to be employed at a number of hospitals.

At present about 1,700 Indonesian skilled workers are employed in Kuwait, he said.
