Morocco's yearlong festival in France closes

The French presidential couple and Princess Lalla Meriem (sister of King Mohammed VI) attended on Tuesday the closure ceremony of the Moroccan year-long festival in France. Welcomed by rose petals, the Moroccan princess, French President Jacques Chirac and his spouse Bernadette Chirac, attended at the Opera Comique of Paris the show that closed a festival celebrating friendship and longstanding ties between Morocco and France.

On Tuesday, the princess visited at the Arab World Institute in Paris a retrospective on French painter Jacques Majorelle, a fan of Morocco's colors and scenery. Running from February 23 through April 9, the exhibition, features mostly curtesies of private collections.

The year-long event featured over 200 economic, artistic and cultural events throughout several French cities to reveal the depth and richness of the Moroccan civilization.
