Israel continues attacks against south Lebanon
Lebanon-Israel, Military, 2/24/2000

Israeli warplanes on Wednesday flew intensively over the western Bekaa area, carrying out tens of provocative and mock raids at a low altitude and dropping thermal balloons to avoid the Lebanese army's anti-aircraft fire.

On Wednesday morning the Israeli occupation forces shelled the Qilya and Abu Rashid heights, the woods of Maidoun, the surroundings of Burket al-Jabbour and the woods surrounding al-Qatrani area in the western Bekaa.

Lebanese security sources said more than 20 shells were dropped on the targeted areas. The hostile shelling was coupled by mopping-up operations with machine-guns against areas situated between the occupied and liberated parts of south Lebanon.

In retaliation, the Lebanese resistance on Wednesday evening attacked the Israeli troops and their agents' positions in Beer Klaab and Kassaret al-Aroush.

In a statement the Lebanese resistance said direct hits were achieved.
