AL council to be held in Lebanon, March 11 and 12 in solidarity with the Lebanese people

Lebanese Premier Salim al-Hoss on Wednesday welcomed the convening of the next meeting of the Arab League council on the level of the foreign ministers on March 11 and 12 in Beirut.

Meanwhile, Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid said he had received a telephone call on Wednesday morning from al-Hoss, in which al-Hoss stressed Lebanon's approval of convening the 113th session of the AL council on the level of foreign ministers in Beirut on March 12.

In statements he made in Cairo on Wednesday, the AL chief stated that he will make urgent consultations with the Arab foreign ministers to inform them about this.

He continued that the Israeli aggression against Lebanon will be one of the topics scheduled on the agenda of the AL session, as well as taking a united stand to ensure material and political backing for Lebanon.

The council will be held under the chairmanship of Omani Foreign Minister Yousef Bin Alawi.

This came after the Saudi official consent for this new date instead of delaying convening the meeting until March 27, following vacations of the greater Bairam which will start on March 16. Thus the date for convening the council fits the whole, especially Egypt (the AL's headquarters country), which is getting ready for the African - European summit in April, which requires combining all the Egyptian and Arab efforts to give success to this unique summit in which heads of leaders of Africa and Europe will attended.
