Sudan, Politics, 2/24/2000
The Sudanese Ministry of Justice on Wednesday announced official abrogation of al-Tawali political law and replacement of it by the political parties and organizations law.
The Sudanese minister of state at the Ministry of Justice, Amin Banafi, said that the main characteristics of the new law are flexibility and ensuring greater chances for the political forces to practice their political activities. He stressed that all these are in line with the requirements of the national reconciliation in the framework of the joint Libyan- Egyptian initiative.
He continued that this measure and other similar steps are evidence of the seriousness of the government to prepare the atmosphere for dialogue, reconciliation and peace.
