Al-Sharaa holds telephone talks with al-Hoss, Ivanov

Lebanese Premier and Foreign Minister Salim al-Hoss on Tuesday spoke on the telephone with Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa.

The two ministers agreed on the importance of the pan-Arab people's condemnation of the Israeli aggression against Lebanon and their backing for the Lebanese resistance.

The Syrian minister welcomed the visit made by Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak to Lebanon and the positive results of this visit.

Al-Sharaa also received another telephone call from Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov. Talks dealt with the developments in the Middle East peace process, Israel's placing of obstacles before it and developments in Lebanon following the recent Israeli aggressions against the Lebanese civilian installations.

The Russian foreign minister asserted his country's understanding of Syria's stand concerning the peace talks held with Israel in Shepherdstown. He hoped that the April Understanding Monitoring Committee will resume meeting soon.
