Cairo hosts an international conference on Arab water

Deliberations of the 8th international conference on Arab water security started on Monday in Cairo. They were presided over by the chairman of the World Water Council and Egypt's water resources and public work minister, Mahmoud Abu Zeid.
The three-day conference is discussing working out an Islamic Arab water strategy to confront several challenges facing Arab water resources.
In an opening speech, the secretary general of the Arab League, Esmat Abdul Meguid, called for adopting joint strategies at the regional level to protect Arab water and overcome executive and economic obstacles. He urged the importance of crystallizing an Arab strategic vision that protects Arab water rights.
