Weizman and Israel's withdrawal from South Lebanon
Lebanon-Israel, Politics, 2/22/2000
Israeli President Ezer Weizman has stated that the chance should be given to the Israeli prime minister and to the army to find out the way that will lead to pulling the Israeli Army's forces out from south Lebanon.
During his meeting on Monday with the Israeli "Four Mothers" movement, which calls for the pullout of the Israeli Army forces from south Lebanon, Weizman expressed his confidence that such a pullout will be made in an early date, prior to what they may think.
He added that the Palestinian track should not be neglected nor should the negotiations with Syria.
Commenting on President Mubarak's statements concerning the Israeli Army's strikes against Lebanon, Weizman added that these statements by the Egyptian president had not frustrated him, rather, "I feel content because our relations with Egypt pave the way for delegating an Israeli envoy to Cairo immediately to explain Israel's position toward the military strikes against the infrastructure in Lebanon."
