Jordan-Italy, Politics, 2/22/2000
Jordanian Prime Minister Abdul Raouf al-Rawabdeh has asserted Jordan's desire to give the Middle East peace process a push forward to achieve a just and comprehensive peace in the region.
He indicated that Jordan enjoys strong relations with all sides concerned, a matter which enables it to take the Middle East peace from the prevailing stalemate.
During his Monday meeting with Italian Foreign Trade Minister Piero Fassino and members of the accompanying delegation, the Jordanian prime minister stressed that peace is a strategic option and that Jordan wishes to have peace talks continue on all tracks.
The two sides reviewed bilateral relations and means of deepening prospects of cooperation in various areas.
For his part, the Italian minister stressed that his country pins great importance on having all sides concerned reached the optimum peace and that it will spare no efforts to give the Middle East peace process a push forward.
He said that the European Union is careful to play a pivotal role in giving a push forward to the peace process in the region, asserting that such a EU role will help the Middle East peace process getting out of this bottleneck.
