Egypt welcomes the visit of Vatican pope to Cairo

Hussein El-Sadr, Egypt's ambassador at Vatican asserted that the visit of pope to Cairo and his meeting with the Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak which is due to start the day after tomorrow - acquires great importance because it is the first visit by the Pope to Egypt and that it comes at an important stage of the peace process history.

El-Sadr who is currently in Cairo said that the Pope's visit is a certificate for the religious tolerance in which Egypt has been living since more than 4 thousand years, referring that there are strong relations between Egypt and Vatican that is represented in a joint committee between the two sides on the political level, adding that there is another joint committee for the discussion between religions that is periodically convened with El-Azhar representing the Egyptian side.
