Iran declares readiness to sell water to neighboring countries

Iranian Deputy Energy Minister Reda Ardiknal asserted his country's readiness to negotiate concerning transporting Iranian water to neighbor states, saying that Iran is in a position that qualifies it to transport 2 billion cubic meters of water annually-- 50% of the area's countries' needs.

He said in front of the Arab water security conference that Iran has the distinguished technical experiences in field of water projects and that it went through a lot of experiences in this concern.

He added that his country established a joint company with Kuwait and the UK to discuss issues concerning water, saying that transporting water is better regarding economic feasibility in comparison to desalination projects which require huge funds.

He said Iran has 60 billion cubic meters as a surplus, a part of which could be transported to the neighboring countries.
