Lebanese citizens have also expressed their satisfaction over the Egyptian solidarity with Lebanon in its current crisis with Israel.

In this context, Prime Minister Atef Ebeid said the visit clearly reflects Egypt's pioneering role in supporting Arab rights.

He said he has received telephone calls from five Lebanese officials in which they expressed their appreciation of the visit. He added the Lebanese politicians said Lebanon felt now more secure, and expressed their appreciation of the stance of the Egyptian leadership and people.

As regards the aid extended by Egypt to Lebanon for eliminating the effects of the Israeli attacks against the Lebanese infrastructure, Ebeid said he would raise before President Mubarak a full dressed report on the executive and financial programs for eliminating effects of the Israeli attacks on power networks.

The report by the Egyptian technical committee which accompanied President Mubarak during his visit to Lebanon underlined the importance of rebuilding a power station in full at aggregate costs of $25-30 million dollar in addition to reformation of two stations at total costs of $12-15 million.

The Prime Minister said the executive reform program would be carried out with a period of 45-60 days.

Foreign Minister Amr Moussa stated that President Mubarak's visit to Lebanon was a message to those whom it may concern.

He said the visit was a reflection of President Mubarak's concern over the latest attacks against Lebanon, adding that the visit aimed to prevent future attacks against Lebanon and to bring the Middle East peace process back to track. Moussa further said Egypt is still in contact with major world powers, mainly the United States, for reactivating the peace process.

Reports from Beirut said President Mubarak's visit was an affirmation of his role in the peace march. Lebanese sources were unanimous that the visit was a clear message to Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak that Egypt was rejecting any attack against Lebanon.
