Preparatory meetings for Afro - European summit

Egypt is participating in the preparatory meeting hosted by South Africa on coming Monday and Tuesday for the first African - European summit that is scheduled to be held in Cairo on April 3 and 4.

Reda Baibers, an official for African affairs in the Egyptian foreign minister's office and head of Egypt's delegation to the South Africa meetings, said that discussing the draft formula for the concluding declaration of the African - European summit will take place through two days in these preparatory meetings and the work program that will be issued by the summit concerning African - European cooperation.

Baibers is heading tomorrow to Pretoria.

He added today that the fifth preparatory meeting of this summit will be held in Cairo on the level of experts on March 1, then the 6th and last preparatory meeting will be held in Lispon, capital of Portugal, at the end of March for because Portugal is the current head of the European Union.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa visited Algeria and Morocco and met with Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, King Mohammed VI of Morocco, Portuguese Foreign Minister Jaime Gama and Javier Solana, the official for foreign relations in the European Union, to overcome the problems that were confronting convening the African - European summit.
