Visiting Kuwaiti parliamentarian delegation meets with lebanese deputies
Lebanon-Kuwait, Politics, 2/18/2000

Members of a visiting Kuwaiti Parliamentarian delegation have met with, Head of the House Commission for Foreign Affairs, Ali Khalil and Deputy Speaker, Elie Ferzli with Kuwaiti Ambassador to Lebanon, Mohammed Said Salal, attending.

Delegation members expressed the Kuwaiti Parliament's full solidarity with the Lebanese people, in its confrontation with Israel's repeated aggressions. Summing up the meeting, Deputy Speaker, Elie Ferzli, said that the encounter provided a chance and common perspective for reviewing perils not exclusive to Lebanon rather than the Arab World as a whole. Ferzli also spoke of the exemplary anti-occupation resistance and peacemaking example set for others to follow, the official Lebanese news agency reported.

In his word, head of the Lebanese Foreign Relations Commission, Ali Khalil, thanked Kuwait for its support and regretted at the same time, US State Secretary, Albright's position over the anti-occupation resistance. Khalil added that the resistance would not stop as US Congress wishes it to do. He also referred to the April Understudying that granted us the right to resist the occupier, noting that the mandate given by the mini Israeli Cabinet to Ehud Barrak to strike at Lebanese infrastructures anew, constituted a further violation of the April Understanding.

The present tense atmosphere, he went on, necessitates increased Arab solidarity with Lebanon and Syria, because in his words, our combat must be waged both militarily and diplomatically.
