Algeria wants to head the Arab parliamentary union

An Algerian official diplomatic source in Cairo said today that his country will present the nomination request for heading the Arab parliamentary union which is currently headed by Egypt.
The source said told ArabicNews.com that his country "will lead steps for establishing a unified Arab parliament similar to that of the European (union) one in order to unify Arab laws and legislation."
He added that "these steps are faced with many obstacles due to the current status through which the Arab states pass in the shadow of the exiting disputes among Arab governments in the political and legislative field which obstructs the actual embodiment of this attempt."
