AL rallies against inviting Israel to host archive conference in Jerusalem
Regional-Israel, Politics, 2/16/2000

Backed and supported by Palestine's representative at the Arab League, the Arab League has called on the AL council in its 113th session to be held in March on the level of the Arab foreign ministers to discuss the issue of the intention of the International Council on Archives to respond to Israel's call to host the annual seminar of the council in Jerusalem in 2001.

A memorandum prepared by the AL in this regard said that the aim of this matter is to take a united Arab stand in protest of the idea of convening this council in Jerusalem, because convening it there is considered a perpetuation to the idea proclaimed by Israel that Jerusalem is an eternal capital for Israel.

The memorandum added it will back the request made by Algeria to host this meeting in the year 2001 instead of Israel.
