Israeli soldier killed in south Lebanon
Lebanon-Israel, Military, 2/12/2000

In a statement released on Friday, the Lebanese resistance said one of its groups attacked the southern fortifications of al-Shaqeif castle, using machine guns and rockets, while several soldiers were inside, and the attack resulted in killing one Israeli soldier and wounding at least two others.

Lebanese security sources said Israeli warplanes on Friday flew in the airspace of al-Nabatiyeh and al-Tuffah district at low altitude, carrying out mock and provocative raids.

Late in the day, the Israeli warplanes raided al-Samaheyeh near the towns of Maifdoun and Zouter. Lebanese security sources said the Israeli warplanes dropped air- to - surface rockets on the targeted area.

The raid coincided with Israeli bombardment of the outskirts of the towns of Maifdoun, Shawkin, Yahmur, Hima, Arnoun and al-Hamra farm using 155 mm caliber shells.
