Iraq and Russia agreed on establishing joint projects in the field of electricity as Russia will establish and develop several private electric stations which Russia previously was involved with in Iraq before the international economic sanctions were applied. The Iraqi electricity nets were exposed to comprehensive destruction during the Gulf War in 1991 due to which a severe retreat occurred in the electric power which pushed the Iraqi authorities to follow an organized way of cutting off electric power in the different Iraqi establishments, which is currently increasing from between 9 to 15 hours daily in the different Iraqi governorates. Morocco's foreign minister Muhammad Benaissa has stated that the future of Morocco's relations with Israel is linked to development in the Middle East peace process. In an interview to the London-based al-Sharq al-Awsat (Middle East) daily the Moroccan foreign minister stressed that there is nothing new between his country and Israel concerning raising the level of relations or in regard to what has been said on establishing an air line between Morocco and Israel. He added that his country can not run the risk of establishing an airline with Israel at a time when the fate of the Middle East peace process is not known. He noted his country's readiness to contribute to salvaging the peace process and achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the region. Go
