Bouteflika arrives today in Saudi Arabia

An Algerian diplomatic source in Riyadh said on Thursday that Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika will start as from today a visit to Saudi Arabia which will last for three days, his first visit since his election in 1999.

The Algerian diplomat added that Bouteflika will arrive today in Jeddah on the Red Sea and will in the same day perform al-Omra rituals in Mecca.

The source continued that on Saturday the Algerian President will head for Riyadh to hold talks with Saudi Arabia's King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz and Crown Prince Abdullah dealing with bilateral relations between the two states.

In Doha, the Qatari daily al-Watan said that Algerian president will pay a visit to Qatar on February 20 in the course of his tour of several Arab and Gulf states.

The paper said that the Algerian president will hold during his tour which he will start tomorrow and which will cover besides Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Qatar and Jordan, talks with leaders of these countries.

The paper continued that the Algerian president will also visit the capital of Thailand, Bangkok, to attend meetings of the World Trade Organization.

The Algerian president is accompanied on his tour, which will last for more than ten days, by an official delegation representing several Algerian activists.
