Chirac informs Lahoud of France's refusal to amend April Understanding

Lebanese President Emile Lahoud on Thursday received a message from French President Jacques Chirac expressing the French position which supports Lebanon and refused the amendment of the April Understanding.
The message was handed over to the Lebanese president by the new French ambassador accredited to Lebanon at Baabda palace.
Talks between the Lebanese president and the French ambassador dealt with bilateral relations between the two countries and latest developments in light of the recent Israeli aggression against Lebanon.
The Lebanese president stressed that the brutal Israeli aggression against the Lebanese civilian firms will not affect the unity of track with "sisterly" Syria or "our commitment to resistance until liberating south Lebanon and the western Bekaa."
