Germany appreciates Egypt's role Mideast peacemaking
Egypt-Germany, Politics, 2/10/2000
President Hosni Mubarak yesterday received Wolf Gang Terze, Speaker of the German Parliament (Bundestag) and his accompanying delegation currently visiting Cairo at the invitation of People's Assembly Speaker Ahmed Fathi Sorour.
The meeting was attended by Sorour, Chairman of the People's Assembly's Foreign Relations Committee Mohammed Abdullah and the German Ambassador to Egypt Peter Dingens.
Addressing a joint press conference with Sorour after the meeting, the German speaker said that the Germans criticize whatever endangers peace whether on the part of Israel or Lebanon.
He voiced Germany's appreciation of President Mubarak's call to hold an international conference to combat terrorism in a bid to lay international frameworks to eliminate such serious phenomenon.
Terze told reporters that an international conference will be held late August in New York at the United Nations premises.
The conference will mainly deal with globalization, an issue of interest to both the Egyptians and Germans.
