Kuwaiti dailies warned against criticizing the ruling family
Kuwait, Politics, 2/9/2000
The seven Kuwaiti dailys on Tuesday published that the Kuwaiti first deputy prime minister and foreign minister, Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah, has warned the local press against criticizing the ruling family.
The seven papers quoted Sheikh al-Sabah as saying, "Everything relating to the crown prince and the Cabinet is the specialty of the Emir of the country." Sheikh al-Sabah added, "We do not accept violating the system nor its people. This is your country and violating its system is a violation of it."
However, this statements came following expectations raised by the mass media on the possibility of appointing a successor to the prime minister and crown prince, Sheikh Saad al-Abdullah al-Sabah, who is facing health problems.
